Harvest: A Time to Measure Successes and Challenges

Posted September 25th, 2024 | By Kyle Anderson, Crop Consultant, Manlius/Walnut IL, Nutrien Ag Solutions

Kyle Anderson, a Crop Consultant at the Manlius, IL branch for Nutrien Ag Solutions shares his thoughts on this year’s harvest season.

The harvest season is an incredibly important time in agriculture, and as a Crop Consultant, it is the time to evaluate whether the decisions made by growers and crop consultants were effective in producing a better result than the year before.

Achieving good yields and a safe harvest for all our growers and employees is always our top priority during this time. And like every year, there are always unforeseen challenges that come up during harvest that we must adapt to and overcome. This year in our region, some of our greatest challenges were early emergence issues and some late season missed pollination. We have a great partnership with our growers and can work side-by-side to address these to achieve the most successful yield possible.

Speaking of success, we are looking forward to seeing the introduction of new genetics and traits in the industry that can enhance our offers and address some of the existing gaps in our product line up for the upcoming year. With the seasonality of our business, it’s exciting to have opportunities to bring more value to our customers, and then watch to see the results in the next season.

This time of year is a good reminder of the excellent training material and knowledge that is available to us at Nutrien Ag Solutions, which we can share with our customers to assist them in making better agronomic decisions year after year, and harvest after harvest.

Wishing all our growers and employees a safe and successful harvest.
